Fall into Fall Favorites

Hair, blowout done by Emily at Wild Roots Salon in Broomfield, CO.

Such a cute little salon in Broomfield, CO. I love everyone there, so be sure to check them out if you live in Denver or are traveling through the area.

There’s nothing better than the fall of the year. The heat of summer gives way to more favorable temperatures, and I get excited to bring out turtlenecks and other seasonable attire. Since the weather here in Montana is unpredictable, it’s sometimes hard to find the right outfit. Thankfully, I’ve learned that it’s imperative to keep a few basic staples to put together any ensemble.

My Favorites

You should always have sweaters, some flattering denim pieces, and things you can layer in your closet. Also, anything that looks good with booties is advisable. Lastly, don’t forget about those statement accessories as they can give your outfit a finished look. Here’s why you need these pieces in your wardrobe.

Sweaters Make Fall Better

I get so excited to pull out my sweaters. Sweaters are a great transition top as I can wear them either with a skirt, jeans, or leggings. My favorite fall attire is a duster cardigan, which I can wear with a cute camisole over any bottoms of my choice.

Denim Is Always A Good Investment

Denim is very flattering for all body types. Plus, adding a few pieces of denim to your closet is a good investment. Many of the jeans in my wardrobe, I’ve had for several years. It’s okay to pay a bit more for a classic denim piece that flatters your body type, will never go out of style, and you can wear it with any outfit you choose. In my closet, you will find plenty of jeans, and some would say that I’m a bit obsessed with them.

Faux Fur Coats

I love faux fur coats. They are great for layering, and when the Montana temperatures drop to the downright frigid zone, they keep me warm. I can wear these faux fur pieces over anything. The outfit underneath really doesn’t matter if I have a statement jacket on top. I get lots of compliments on my collection, so in my opinion, a faux fur coat is a great addition to your closet.

Booties Are Essential

My toes are always cold in the winter months. Thankfully, booties keep my toes covered, and they go with just about any outfit. I have standard black and neutral colors that match anything I wear. I am a tall woman at 5”11, so I don’t want to add any additional height. However, I do love having a little heal on my boots as it makes me feel more sophisticated.

Statement Accessories For The Win

When it comes to accessorizing, statement pieces are non-negotiable. Not only can they add a splash of color and make your outfit pop, but they complete your look. I love to add a beautiful scarf or a delicate necklace to spice up my outfits. Plus, you can reuse the same black pants, and if you have accessories, then it will look like an entirely different ensemble.

What are your favorite fall and winter pieces? Do you prefer leggings, sweatpants, or denim? For me, jeans are always going to be my preferred bottom, and they go perfect with a faux fur coat and some booties.
